How to read your prescription

  1. SPH (sphere) is your main power. A minus sign means short sight (myopia).
  2. CYL (cylinder) corrects astigmatism. We fold it into one spherical power (half the CYL is added to SPH). Up to −0.75 you'll barely notice a difference; from −1.00 to −1.50 vision may be slightly softer.
  3. Axis is the direction of the astigmatism, from 1 to 180. It only matters when CYL is not zero.

Glasses power vs. OLENS power

Up to −3.25, your OLENS power is the same as your glasses power. OLENS doesn't come in −0.25 or −0.75, so those match 0.00 and −0.50. From −3.50, contact lens power is slightly lower than glasses power.

This guide is for reference only and is not a prescription. It estimates your contact lens power from a 12 mm vertex distance and does not replace an eye test. Your exact power, lens fit and suitability must be confirmed by an optometrist or ophthalmologist. Stop wearing lenses that cause pain, redness or blurred vision.
